Vellum Embossed Flowers For The Flower Challenge #20 – Sending Love

While planning today’s card, I wanted to use border stamps and at the same time I wanted the background to be subtle as my vellum flowers and die cut sentiment were going to be quite bright…I usually go for bright and colourful backgrounds for my cards, so this was a good challenge for me..

I will be entering this card for the latest Flower Challenge #20 and the theme for this month is acetate/vellum…

I started by die cutting a white panel for the front of my card using a large dotted rectangle die..then I stamped the border stamps using Altenew crisp inks – pink diamond and sand dunes..I also heat embossed two strips on this panel using Altenew platinum embossing powder and adhered this panel to a plain white card base…

On a piece of Vellum paper, I stamped the flower and leaf cluster twice and heat embossed them using the same platinum embossing powder…I coloured on the back of these images with my alcohol markers and then adhered these to the card, making sure to leave enough space for the die cut word…

I die cut the word ‘love’ twice using stitched alphabet dies and a bright red cardstock and layered them before placing them on the card front…I stamped the other half of the sentiment on a red label using white ink and adhered it just above the die cut word..and finally, to embellish my card I have added some small red and pink sequins..

Wreath Turnabout – 2 Cards

I have tried out a couple of turnabout stamps for creating easy and wonderful backgrounds for my cards,but this new wreath turnabout set(Concord & 9th) has a much smaller pattern and there are two of them in the set…my first thought was to create something with copper embossing and that’s what I did for one of my cards…while on the other card I have simply used various Oxide inks to stamp the pattern…

I started by stamping one of the wreaths on black cardstock with some watermark ink and then heat embossing it with copper embossing powder….it has to be rotated 90 degrees after each stamping a total of four times to get this result…I also stamped and heat embossed the sentiment and a small heart in the middle of the wreath…

On the front of a plain black card base,I adhered a copper coloured paper cut to the same size as the card front..I cut the embossed black panel to the size required and added some black craft foam underneath then adhered it to the card front and my card was ready…

For my second card I picked out these shades of Distress Oxide inks to stamp the other wreath in the stamp set – twisted citron, cracked pistachio, peacock feather and evergreen bough…I then added some dots and the sentiment label stamped with aged mahogany…

I didn’t want to add any other colour to my card so I covered the front of the card base with aged mahogany before die cutting the stamped front panel and adhering it to the card base…

These wreath stamps are quite beautiful and versatile…I do hope I can remember to use them to create a few Christmas cards later this year..

You’re Not Getting Old – Shaker Card For MFT Birthday Project

I was so happy to create and add my entry to the challenge at the MFT challenge blog for the Birthday Project as the challenge this time was to make a shaker card….and since it was always my plan to make more shaker cards this year, it was an added bonus for me…also,I found the perfect sentiment to use with these adorable turtles(they usually live a long life)….

Most of the planning in this card was for the layout of the turtles as they are quite big…so I started by stamping and colouring in the bird and turtle images and then fussy cutting them…I also die cut two stitched borders from white cardstock and sponged some antique linen Distress Ink on it…I kept these elements aside for later and started on the shaker…

First I created the background panel with the mini cloud edges stencil and salty ocean Distress Ink…I then cut a blue glitter panel same size as the card front and then used a smaller rectangle die to create a frame…on the back of this frame,I adhered the two hillside edge panels and then stuck an acetate panel..I then adhered a whole lot of foam tape behind this frame to create the shaker well…

I added a lot of clear and sparkly blue sequins inside the shaker well and then adhered the background panel to close and seal the shaker…now this shaker panel could easily be added to the card base…

I stamped the sentiment on the card front and adhered the cut out images as well…I also added a bit of glossy accents on the images for a bit of shine…

Your Kindness Melts My Heart

It was high time I pulled out Kraft cardstock for a card coz I don’t think I have used it for a card this year….and it’s already May…I have also tried out three new things in this card…a new stamp & die set – Altenew Focus on you, a new embossing powder – Altenew Rose Gold and a new white ink – Hero Arts unicorn white..

First,I chose a leaf stamp from the stamp set and stamped it repeatedly on a piece of Kraft cardstock front panel using white ink…I have used a couple of small dot stamps as fillers for my background and at the same time making sure I didn’t overcrowd the panel with my stamping…I adhered this panel to a Kraft card base and added a white die cut lace border on it…

On a piece of white cardstock,I stamped and heat embossed the sprint flowers as well as the sentiment using rose gold embossing powder and coloured the images using Spectrum Aqua markers and a water brush…I cut out the sentiment and layered it with a Kraft layer before adhering it to the card front and then die cut the flowers and placed them behind the sentiment…

You’re A Koality Friend – Time Out Challenge #108

A beautiful card by created and shared recently by Olga Moss on Instagram in which she used the fringe borders upside down inspired me a lot and I did tell her that I was going to try her idea…I didn’t just want to copy her, so I spent quite a bit of time trying to incorporate the upside down fringe on my card design…

On a white front panel,I used some Distress inks and MFT radiating rays stencil to print the sun and rays pattern…I have used squeezed lemonade, mustard seed, spiced marmalade and carved pumpkin ink shades and also splattered a bit of water for effect…

Next,I die cut a lot of textured cardstock strips in shades of green and brown using the fringe scalloped border die and adhered them to this panel upside down so it looks somewhat like grass…I used a stitched rectangle die to emboss the edge of the front panel before adhering it to a plain white card base…

I stamped and coloured in the tree and koala images on a separate piece of white cardstock and cut them out before placing them on my card…I have applied Nuvo glaze on certain parts of the images for a bit of shine as well as dimension…

I stamped the sentiment on a die cut fishtail banner and adhered it to the card front using adhesive foam and added some white Nivo drops to embellish my card…

I am also entering this card in the Time Out Challenge #108 where the theme for the challenge is ‘wild’…

Altenew Sweet Rose Bouquet Birthday Card

So what do you do when you are trying out a new stamp and the images turn out really great..?? You make a quick card with it of course..!!

I wanted to see how the roses would look in coral-ish shades and when I finished stamping,I quite liked them so I went ahead and made this card with them…

I started by dry embossing the front panel using a beautiful damask design embossing folder which I adhered to the front of my white card base…

Using my MISTI, I stamped all the flowers and leaves using Altenew crisp dye inks….for the flowers I have used blush, pink pearl, rouge and coral bliss and for the leaves I have used moss, olive and evergreen shades of inks..

I die cut the flowers and leaves with the coordinating dies and then placed them on my card front…I stamped the sentiment on a white strip using coral bliss ink and layered it with a rose pink glitter cardstock before adhering it to the card front with some adhesive foam…and finally to embellish my card I have added three die cut sequins from the same glitter cardstock..

You Are Mermazing

After doing a bit of rough layout planning,I started on this card…I wanted an underwater scene with the mermaid and the turtle and was going to keep the background plain blue…but at the last minute I added the underwater plant stamp all around the edges in a slightly darker blue shade…and I love how that one thing added so much to the scene…if only I would have more of the ‘light bulb’ moments..!! 🙂

So,once the background panel was covered in salty ocean Oxide ink,I stamped the plants all around with mermaid lagoon Oxide ink and then adhered this panel to a plain white card base…

On a separate piece of white cardstock, I stamped all the other images – some needed colouring and some didn’t…I then placed these cut out/die cut images on my card front and then stamped the sentiment,a cluster of small fish as well as a small red heart…

To embellish my card I have added a lot of clear Nuvo drops as they look like bubbles in water..

Thanks For Being My Friend

Oh I love these birds by Altenew..they are from Birds of a feather stamp set…I really feel that a colour layering stamp set adds so many possibilities and so much ease for the card maker/crafter….and since it’s a thank you card for a friend,I used two of the three birds from this set that faced each other…

I created the background panel first with some Distress Oxide inks and Altenew cube builder stencil…I have used the following shades of ink – hickory smoke, frayed burlap and peeled paint and I didn’t use the stencil to build the cube background but just the simple diamond grid…I splattered some water for effect and also used a stitched rectangle edge die to emboss a border on this panel before adhering it to a plain white card base…

On a separate piece of white cardstock,I used various Altenew inks to stamp the birds…for the first bird I used minty mint, pinkalicious, galactic stream and rocky shore and for the second one I have used deep iris, maple yellow, orange cream and rocky shore….I then die cut these with the coordinating dies and die cut the branches from white cardstock and placed them on my card front…

I stamped the sentiment using black ink and added a few gold sequins to embellish my card…

Also,in case you are not on Instagram,I wanted to share that one of my cards was ‘Caught by Altenew’ and shared on their Instagram account…I am still quite chuffed about it..!!

You’re In My Thoughts

My card today is a simple one with no layers at all…it might seem like an easy one and I would agree that it didn’t take much time but this was my third try….I ruined the first one because I didn’t have my heat gun ready to dry the smooshed ink quickly so the paper warped…and then on the second one all the ink from my fingers got on the white section of my card front which I wanted to leave nice and clean…well, they do say ‘third time’s a charm’ for a reason…..I was definitely inspired by Therese Calvrid ( Lost In Paper) to create this card and I now know how much practice, patience and planning is needed to make even a simple card look nice..!!

I started with a top fold card base made from 110lb Neenah solar white cardstock….watercolour cardstock might have made my life a bit easy for this card, but I wanted to see how the heavyweight cardstock would react to the ink smooshing….

I have used Altenew inks(pink pearl,minty mint & sea breeze) on a piece of acetate and a water spray bottle to transfer the ink to the card front…I heat set the ink as soon as it was transferred to paper…I didn’t use too much water so the results were great on this particular paper…I did get a slight warping at the base,but I got rid of that by putting the card between 2 layers of clean copy paper and running it through my Cuttlebug…

I then placed my card inside my mini MISTI and positioned the flower and sentiment stamp the way I wanted…I stamped the images using Simon Says Stamp intense black ink and repeat stamped the images for a better and darker result..,to embellish my card I have used just three silver confetti sequins…
