Leafy Birthday Cards

I am sharing two cards that I have made with the Altenew Leaf Canopy stamp and die set….In my first card I have tried out a light wash of the Altenew watercolours for the background and for my second card, I have used the fadeout inkpad by ink on 3 to try out a no line colouring effect…need to practice a bit more with this inkpad but I think it’s a good start…

Two Stenciled Background Birthday Cards

Today I’m sharing two flowery birthday cards in which I have used stencils to create the backgrounds…stencils are still my no. 1 favorite craft products that I use to create backgrounds for my cards….and of course Distress/Oxide Inks as well…

For my first card background I have used cracked pistachio Distress Ink with the Altenew sunburst stencil and then splattered some gold paint in the background…I die cut all the floral elements from white cardstock and the coloured them in using Zig watercolour markers and used a sparkle marker to add a bit of shimmer to these die cuts…once I was happy with the arrangement, I adhered it to the card front and added the stamped sentiment label…I have added a few gold confetti sequins to embellish my card..

To create the background for my second card, I first applied pine needles Distress Oxide ink all over the front panel and let it dry for a few mins..I then used the Altenew Feathered Leaves Stencil and twisted citron oxide ink to print the pattern…from a piece of black cardstock, I die cut the word ‘wishes’ three times and layered them together…I also applied some Nuvo gloss on this to make it shiny…

I stamped and die cut the Altenew folksy florals from white cardstock and arranges them on the card front…I also added a small pink label with the word ‘birthday’ stamped on it..

Flowers & Leaves – Two Birthday Cards

Hello friends…hope you all have been well and have had a good start to 2019…I have been trying my best to update my blog but unable to do so for a while now due to time constraints…to make things easy on myself, from now on I plan to only share the pictures of my cards and details about the products I have used in each one…this is the only way I can keep sharing my cards at the moment…

The first card I’m sharing uses the following Altenew products – Geo Frames stamp and dies, Floral elements stamps and dies, Crisp dye inks, Rose gold embossing powder, and black cardstock

My second card uses the following Altenew products – Leaf Canopy stamp and dies, Crisp dye inks – sea breeze & parrot, Watercolours for the background panel – ocean waves and persian blue,and the Birthday Builder stamp set.The background is a watercolour cardstock cut to size for the front panel.

I have also used some adhesive foam under one of the leaf die cut for a bit of dimension and added some rhinestones to embellish my card..

Colourful Altenew Flowers

The Altenew 3D flower dies are among my top favorite dies and I have made quite a few cards using these dies…the card I’m sharing today has been inspired by a super gorgeous card that I had seen on Instagram created by @thecardlandi…she has created a couple of cards with these dies and they are both very beautiful…

I started by creating the background panel…I chose the Altenew deco wallpaper stencil and used black soot Distress Ink to print the pattern and then adhered this panel to a plain white card base…I then started on the die cutting, and made sure to keep all the elements of one flower together so as to save time later rather than end up playing jigsaw with the die cuts…ha ha..

I die cut all the flowers and leaves from watercolour cardstock using the Altenew Rose Flurries 3D die and then used a whole lot of Distress Ink colours to colour the flowers and leaves…once I had all the elements coloured, I used a mist spray mixed with a small amount of Perfect Pearls gold powder and sprayed all the die cuts….once dry, I put all the layers together to make the dimensional pieces…

I tried various layouts for my die cuts, and once I was happy with the layout I simply used the press n’ seal film to keep all the elements in place while I adhered them to the front of my card…

I stamped and white heat embossed the sentiment on black cardstock and adhered it on the card front and have used some gold confetti sequins to embellish it…

Birthday Card For Altenew March Inspiration Challenge

Today I’m sharing my second card that I have created for the Altenew March 2018 Inspiration Challenge…I was able to incorporate all the colours from the inspiration image – blue, coral and brown on my card and I think the Altenew Birds of a feather layering stamp set is amazing…there are three birds in the set and I chose this one for my card…

This is the inspiration image for the challenge by Virginia Lu…

I started by creating the front panel of my card…I have used the stone wall stencil and applied the texture paste all over the panel…I did not bother to fill in the left out spaces as I liked how they looked…once dry,I lightly sponged some coral bliss dye ink on all edges of the panel and adhered it to my card base…

I stamped the bird on a piece of white cardstock using tide blue,peach perfect,orange cream and coral bliss crisp dye inks and the die cut it using the coordinating die…I die cut the tree branch from a light brown cardstock and adhered it to the card front and then used some adhesive foam squares to adhere the bird..

I stamped the sentiment on two white strips of cardstock using tide blue ink and added them to my card…and finally to embellish my card I have used clear confetti sequins…

Be Happy – Altenew March Inspiration Challenge

This month’s Altenew Challenge is by Virginia Lu…I really love her cardmaking style and my entry for the challenge is also inspired by her as she has created some cards with heat embossed flowers on vellum which look so very very beautiful….and that’s exactly what I did for my card..heat embossed some flowers…

This is the image and colours for the challenge…

I cut watercolor cardstock to size for my front panel and used a piece of acetate, Altenew crisp dye inks and water spray bottle to create the background by simply smooshing the ink on paper…I have used aqualicious,coral bliss and sunkissed shades here…once dry,I used a postage stamp edge rectangle die to emboss the edges of my panel and then adhered it to a plain white card base…

On a piece on vellum paper,I stamped a few Cosmos flowers using Versamark ink and then heat embossed it using gold embossing powder…I didn’t have the matching dies by then,so I simply cut them out…I carefully adhered these flowers to my front panel by using a liquid glue just behind the embossed areas so it wouldn’t show…

Next,I die cut the word ‘BE’ three times from thick cardstock using bold caps die and layered them together…I sponged some coral bliss ink on it before adhering it the the card front..I gold heat embossed the rest of the sentiment on a small white strip and sponged aqualicious ink on it to stick to the colours in the challenge..and finally I added some gold Nuvo drops to embellish my card…

Happy Birthday Ma!

It’s my mum’s 60th birthday today and I’m sharing the card I made for her…fingers crossed it has reached her by now…I was very careful with my colour choices for this card and wanted it to look elegant and beautiful as well…

I first die cut the top layer of my card from a light grey textured cardstock using a dotted rectangle die and adhered it to a plain white card base…I started on my flowers and leaves stamping next…

I used my Misti and placed the all layers of the Build-a-flower Rose stamp on it and stamped them using various shades of Altenew crisp dye inks…I tried it out on white cardstock as well as a pale blue one and decided to use the pale blue for all my stamping…the Glad press-n-seal came in handy to easily place the flower and leaves on my card front once I was happy with the arrangement of all the elements…

I used Altenew Caps Alphabet die to die cut the word Ma (that’s what I call my mum) from white cardstock as well as white craft foam and layered them before adhering them on the card front…just above this I added a label with happy birthday stamped on it…

To embellish my card I have used some clear confetti sequins…

Altenew January Inspiration Challenge

It was a great idea to take part in challenges to get going on my cardmaking for this year…today’s card is for the Altenew January Inspiration Challenge…I really love the colour combination for this month and wanted to make a card with a stamped sentiment background like I have seen Jennifer Mcguire create so many times…

I have used the latest Altenew Birthday Builder stamp set for my card and didn’t want this one to have too many floral images…I really want to create another card using this month’s inspiration image but am not sure if I will be able to do so in time for the challenge…

I started by sponging some Altenew fresh lemon dye ink on a white cardstock panel…I then laid out all the stamps that said ‘birthday’ from the birthday builder stamp set on my MISTI and then stamped them onto my panel using autumn blaze dye ink…then to add a bit of interest to my card,I cut the panel at an angle from the bottom and added a printed orange cardstock…and finally I used a large cross stitched rectangle die to remove the excess and create a neat panel which I adhered to a plain white card base…

I die cut the word ‘happy’ using the inline alpha die from white glitter cardstock as well as two times from plain pink cardstock…I layered them and adhered them on my card…I stamped the word birthday on a white label and adhered it below the word happy using some adhesive foam…

I stamped the small flower bunch from Build-a-flower Rose stamp set three times on pink card using pinkalicious crisp ink and then die cut those and placed them on my card…I then covered a white panel with some bamboo dye ink and die cut the leaves using the Floral 3D die set and placed them on my card as well…

To embellish my card I have used some white Nuvo drops…

The Altenew Birthday Builder stamp set I have used in this card has ‘Happy’ & ‘Birthday’ written in 18 different fonts which can also be mixed and matched…and since birthday cards are what most of us need all year round, I really think this is a great set to own..
