6 Quick Christmas Cards

I got very inspired by a blog post from last month by my friend Therese Calvrid ( Lost In Paper blog ) when I decided to start my Christmas cards for this year….I really liked how she made the fantastic backgrounds for her cards by repeat stamping…I think it’s a great way to get into the swing of festive cardmaking…especially for someone like me who had yet to make a start.. 🙂

I have created the backgrounds for all my cards in the same way…I first chose all the images from the stamp set that I wanted to repeat stamp… I then stamped it all over the white front panel using black  onyx Versafine ink and stuck these panel to a plain white card base…

On a separate piece of white cardstock, I stamped some of the same images and some other images that I wanted to place on the card front..I clear embossed and then coloured these images using my alcohol markers…

I stamped the sentiments on a red cardstock (blue cardstock for one card) using watermark ink and heat embossed them all using white embossing powder…I cut them into strips and adhered them to the card front using some adhesive foam strips for a bit of dimension…

Next, I adhered the die cut images to the cards, making sure not to add too many…I added a bit of embellishments to them all and my cards were ready…

Updated Post – Altenew June Inspiration Challenge

Hello…I’m sharing a new picture of my card that I had shared earlier….I wasn’t able to get a better picture that day, so I tried again….and the colours in today’s picture turned out much closer to the actual colours on my card..

I have tried so hard to click a better picture of my card so I could share the actual colour of the Ranunculus flower on my card, but it keeps showing as a yellowish colour when in fact it’s a green colour quite similar to the one in the inspiration photo….

This is the inspiration photo and colours provided for the June Challenge…I haves used the three colours provided but gave them a bit of a twist by using green as the flower colour, the grey as the leaves and the rose pink/lavender colour for the background…
I started by creating the front panel of my card…I applied rose red and blush rose Peerless watercolours to a watercolour piece of cardstock and set it aside to dry…once dry I added some splatters of the same colours and then adhered this panel to a plain white card base…
On a separate piece of watercolour cardstock, I stamped the flower and leaves with watermark ink and heat embossed them with a white embossing powder…I then used a couple of Altenew crisp inks and a water brush to colour in these images…I have used bamboo for the flower and silver stone for the leaves…once dry, I die cut these images and adhered them to my card…

Then I die cut the word ‘you’ three times from black cardstock using the Altenew fine alphabet dies…I layered the die cuts and added them to my card just above the embossed sentiment strip which completes the sentiment for my card…
To embellish my card I have added some black Nuvo drops and applied some shimmer using my Spectrum Noir shimmer pen…
