Scrapbook Boutique July 2017 Challenge

It is always very exciting for me to wait for the Scrapbook Boutique blog monthly challenge moodboard…you never know what the theme is going to be…and there are always hundreds of ways one can be inspired by it…I have made two cards for this challenge and have kept things mostly simple(blaming it on the super freezing winters..!!)…

And this is the inspiration mood board for this month’s challenge…

For my first card I chose a plain white card base and a die cut white top layer..I then used salty ocean Distress Ink and Graffiti Scribble Altenew stencil to create the background..I also sprinkled some water for effect…

On a separate piece of cardstock,I stamped the fairy and butterfly image using Versafine black onyx ink and then heat embossed it using white pearl embossing powder so that the images are not a bright black but rather a soft grey colour…I coloured in the butterfly, flower, leaves and the fairy wings using some watercolour brush markers….once dry,I cut them out and adhered them to the card and used glossy accents and Spectrum Noir sparkle pen to add shimmer and gloss on certain sections of the images…

I simply stamped the sentiment on a white strip and adhered a bit of white craft foam under it before adhering it to the card…I have used Sea Breeze Nuvo Jewel Drops to embellish this card…

My second card is even simpler than my first one…I chose a white card base and a white front panel for it…I first stamped the two house/building images using Altenew Caribbean Sky shade of ink and then used the MFT cloud stencil and salty ocean Distress ink to print the clouds at the top of the front panel…

I then stamped the third house on a separate piece of cardstock using broken china Distress Oxide ink..I cut it out and placed it above the two stamped images using some craft foam underneath…

I stamped the sentiment directly on the front panel using blue ink and adhered a few die cut hearts from red glitter cardstock and my card was ready…

Scrapbook Boutique MAY Challenge – Two Cards

While I struggled with the last challenge which had pastel colours in the moodboard, for this month’s challenge at Scrapbook Boutique Blog I had a couple of ideas as soon as I looked at the board….I made two cards and decided to share them both..

For my first card I chose a plain white card base and watercolour paper top layer…I first coloured in the whole background with light pink water colour and gave it a bit of ombre effect(which you can’t really see in the picture)..once dry,I repeat stamped the snowing stamp using Versamark ink and heat embossed it with gold embossing powder…I also smudged some ink on all sides of the top layer and heat embossed that with gold embossing powder as well…

On a separate piece of watercolour paper,I stamped the freesias using pink dye ink and then again with Versamark ink and heat embossed them using clear embossing powder…my Misti came in super handy for this…I coloured in the flowers using Peerless watercolours and cut them out and placed them on the card…

I stamped the sentiment on a small white label and layered it with a gold label and die cut some sequins to embellish this card…I also used my Spectrum Noir sparkle pen to make the flowers glitter and shine..

For my second card I chose a white base as well and die cut watercolour cardstock for the top layer using stitched rectangle die and then stamped the fairy stamp on it….I masked the fairy and then created another paper mask using one of my border dies and masked the top section of the card…

I used raspberry sorbet and spun sugar Distress Inks to cover the unmasked section and then removed all the masks…using watercolour pencils and my blender pen,I coloured in just a few sections of the stamped image…

I stamped the sentiment and punched a few small butterflies using gold foil cardstock to embellish the card…

Cards For Friends

The card’s I’m sharing today have a common theme – they are for giving to friends – but the cards themselves are quite different from one another…in the first card I tried out light colours for the masked background and in the second card I have used kraft cardstock and a flower layering stamp set…

My first card is a simple one layer card and I have tried out the Masked Inking technique as shown in the tutorial by Jennifer McGuire..this is a great idea for adding depth and interest in a single layer card…

On a plain white card,I first stamped my images using black ink and coloured them in using light coloured pencils…I decided not to colour in the fairy itself so that it can stand out better and there are no colour clashes with the background….I then cut out masks for these stamped images and placed them on the card…
I then used some washi tape to mask two edges of the card and then used squeezed lemonade and salty ocean in the unmasked area taking care to slowly fade the colours near the top of the card and leave some white space as well….
Once all the masks were removed, the card was almost ready…all I had to do was add some Nuvo jewel drops to it…

For my second card I have used a kraft cardstock card base and the same for the top layer….using a brown dye ink and the base layer of a layering flower stamp,I repeat stamped to create the background..I added a few dots with white gel pen in between the flowers…
I then stamped the sentiment on wide white strip of cardstock and stamped a flower next to it…after colouring in the flower using Prismacolor pencils,I cut out the excess cardstock leaving one section still connected to the sentiment section…
I stamped, coloured in and cut out another flower and placed it behind the sentiment before adhering it to the card front…just added a few Nuvo jewel drops to embellish this card..
