Animal Pun Cards

The stamp set I have used today has really cute animal images and pun-ny sentiments but they are quite tiny…I have made a few cards with them before but thought to try making smaller cards which are in proportion with the images…

I started with creating the card bases for this card set…I chose a green textured cardstock and cut it to size for a 2 1/2″ x 3” top fold card…next I used a star embossing folder to emboss the front of all these card…

Using white cardstock,I die cut four small Polaroid frames….I stamped the sentiment on the Polaroid frame itself and stamped the cute animals on the inner section…I coloured them in using watercolour pencil and sponged in some green ink on all four edges of the square inner section and placed it back inside the Polaroid frame..
I have used a bit of craft foam under the Polaroid frames before placing them on the cards and my card set was ready…

While I had the stamp set out, I decided to try out a standard size card as well…I used a white card base and sponged in some broken chine Distress Ink on the card front…I then dabbed a bit of worn lipstick on an acrylic block and mixed it with a bit of water before splattering it onto to card front…
I die cut a rectangle panel for the card front and stamped the cute kitty and the sentiment using black ink…then using a grey ink,I repeat stamped the image all over the panel…
I adhered some craft foam behind this panel before adhering it to the card base and added a few silver sequins to embellish it…

Mirror Stamping

Over the years I have tried out mirror stamping technique so many times but it never worked for me before….maybe I wasn’t using the right ink or not doing something the right way…and it was frustrating because sometimes you just want something stamped facing the other way for the card to make sense….and this is one more quality of the MISTI stamping tool that it lets you do the mirror stamping so easily…
I have followed this tutorial by Jennifer McGuire for mirror stamping the giraffe image on my card –  Mirror stamping tutorial
The card base for my card is plain brown and the top layer has been die cut using a stitched rectangle die…I then used distress inks in various shades of green to create the background on the top layer…..
On a smaller die cut Vellum panel,I stamped a large heart image and the sentiment using Versamark ink and heat embossed it using red embossing powder…
I glued four white rhinestones on the vellum panel…that hid the glue dots that I have used to secure the panel on the top layer…lastly,I placed the two giraffe images and a little gold heart on the red heat embossed heart and the card was ready…

Selfies on Cards

Amy Lee -The Craft Bunny is another extremely talented card maker and her blog is full of colourful and beautiful cards and some of them have tutorial videos as well…one of her tutorials that I absolutely loved teaches the Selfie Technique…my cards are nowhere near Amy’s but I had a whole lot of fun trying out this technique to make two cards with whatever stamps I had on hand…

The first card has a white card base and a glitter printed bright top layer….I created a colourful birthday party scene for this selfie and then adhered it to the back of a large Polaroid die cut…I stamped the sentiment on the Polaroid die and added a few enamel dots to embellish the card…

For my second card I chose a light yellow card base and a bright orange top layer…then using the Tim Holtz Cityscapes London stamp,I created 3 scenes and added a koala and a kitten image as the tourists taking these selfies…I added these scenes at the back of the small die cut Polaroid frames and adhered these on the top layer…I stamped the sentiment on the top layer and added a few clear sequins as well…

Birthday Hugs

I had planned to make this card with a few layers and details but changed my mind at the last minute and stamped all the images right onto the top layer…these little animal images are very tricky to fussy cut…maybe I need to practice a bit more… 🙂
The card base is plain bright yellow and the top layer has been die cut from watercolour cardstock using the large stitched rectangle die….I then created a couple of masks and sponged in the sky and the ground using distress inks leaving a white space in the middle…on the white space I stamped all the little animals and coloured them in…
Finally I stamped the sentiment using black ink and adhered the top layer to the card base…
Thanks for visiting today..Hope you like my card…Have a happy and crafty day…!!

CTMH Animal Greetings Cards

Little animal stamps have become one of my favorites to make cards with these days…most of them come with witty or cute sentiments as well…the stamped set I used for today’s cards is called Animal Greetings from Close To My Heart and has about 15 super cute animal stamps and the same number of ‘punny’ sentiment stamps..
I chose neutral shades to create the card bases and white cardstock for the top layer…I stamped the images and sentiment directly onto the top layer and later coloured them in using markers..I have used metallic sequins to embellish these cards…
