Koala Hugs

A while ago,a crafter on Instagram – Felicia( smileyface003 ) – shared some gorgeous card panels that she created using Nuvo drops liquid…she shared a tutorial video as well and I’ve had this on my ‘to try’ list since that day…I think I used less of the liquid and spread it out much thinner than I should’ve but I still love the result…

I used the red berry Nuvo liquid and and a stencil and printed the pattern onto watercolour cardstock and set it aside to dry….it took a few good hours but the result was great…so I die cut it to size for my card and then placed this panel on a light grey textured card base…be sure to wash the stencil with warm soapy water immediately…

I stamped the Koala and baby on a separate piece of white cardstock and the coloured it in using watercolour pencils and Dove blending pen…I cut it out and adhered it to the card base using some craft foam….

I stamped the sentiment on a long thin strip of grey cardstock and adhered it to the card front..and finally to embellish my card I have used a few silver sequins…

The texture and shine from the Nuvo liquid is really awesome and I am so glad I tried it out…

Thank you for taking the time and visiting my blog today…Have a wonderful day ahead…!!

Programming Happy Times Ahead

I like using foil cardstock in my cards but they never show up good in pictures…I tried keeping my card flat but the picture didn’t look too great either..I really need tips and advice for this so let me know if you have some for me…

I started with a silver cardstock for the card base and cut out a large dotted rectangle mat layer using silver foil cardstock…I also die cut a smaller rectangle top panel on which I stamped the Wplus9 Big Top stamp twice to create the rays background…I also stamped the sentiment on this panel using blue dye ink..

On a separate piece of cardstock,I stamped the robot image and coloured it in using watercolour pencils and Dove blender pen…I then cut it out and placed it on my card..

To embellish this card I have used a few clear sequins in various sizes..and my card was ready…
While this card did not take too long to create but as I said before – it took a long time to click a picture in which the foil cardstock shows properly…and laying it flat was the only way I could get a decent picture…what do you think..??

Easter Bunnies

I didn’t have any Easter themed stamps so wasn’t planning on making Easter cards this year…but then I saw my MFT Somebunny stamp set and an idea started to form…I got stuck again when I needed a larger sentiment than I had for this card…and that’s where alphabet stamps came handy….and here’s the card…

On a plain white card base I have used a yellow top layer…I stamped the sentiment right in the middle of this layer using a combination of a small word stamp and alphabet stamps….I then added the next layer above it which has been made from Vellum cut to the same size as the top layer and embossed using the quilted embossing folder….

Next,I die cut a rectangular frame from white cardstock and adhered it to the card…I also adhered tiny blue sequins on the Vellum in the area within this rectangle..

After that I stamped the cute bunnies and carrots on a separate piece of cardstock, coloured them in using watercolour pencils and my Dove blender pen and cut them out before placing them on the card…

Here’s a closer look at the how the bunny images turned out…

Gear Up For A Great Birthday

I’m sure there must be other card makers like me who struggle with making cards for boys or men….for me it’s mainly because I get attracted to flowers or cute images and bright colours and find it easy to create with them…so I bought the bionic bots stamp set by MFT specifically to make cards for boys…and guess what was the very first card I made with it…??A  love themed card that I shared last month – Nuts Over Bolts About You 🙂 :p
So I had a good laugh at myself and sat down to make this card….the card base is plain white and I die cut the top layer from watercolor cardstock using an Avery Elle pierced rectangle die….I stamped all the bionic bots images randomly and coloured them in lightly using grey, red and yellow watercolour pencils and my Dove blender pen…and filled in the rest of the top layer with a light blue colour…

I stamped the sentiment on two small die cut rectangles using blue ink and before adhering them onto the card,I added three gears that I die cut using silver foil cardstock…

Here is a closer look of the sentiment section of my card…sorry I wasn’t able to click a better picture so the gears look black instead of silver…

Cute Buddies Birthday Card

So this year I have planned to work a bit more on my colouring in…I am trying to learn as much as I can from watching tutorial videos by various cardmakers and practicing what I learn…for years I tried using aqua brushes for colouring in images with watercolour pencils etc. but I just couldn’t get a hang of it…so I finally got myself a Dove blender pen just to see is that would make it a bit easy for me…and luckily…it did..!!
For today’s card I chose a plain white card base and stamped the little confetti stamps all over the front using various coloured dye inks….I then used the largest cross stitched rectangle die to emboss the edges of the card…
On a separate die cut panel,I stamped the little boy and girls and coloured them in using Derwent inktense pencils and my Dove blender pen…I then used Peerless watercolours to paint the background….once the panel was dry,I stamped the sentiment and adhered some craft foam behind it before adding it to the card base….
