Colourful Chevron Birthday Card

After watching a tutorial by Jennifer McGuire,I have been quite inspired to use stencils and inks a lot more to create unique backgrounds for my cards…
The card base is made using plain pink textured cardstock and the top layer is plain white….I first covered the top layer with iced spruce distress ink and then used a chevron stencil and a lot of brightly coloured distress inks to print the pattern onto the top layer…
I die cut the word happy using the same cardstock as the card base and stamped the word birthday onto blue foil card stock and placed the sentiment on the top layer….
On a separate piece of cardstock,I stamped, coloured in and cut out the image of the little girl and placed it near the base of the top layer…I have used blue sequins to embellish the card…
Thanks for stopping by to take a look at my card….Have lovely & blessed day ahead…!!

Bright Borders Birthday Card

A lot of stamp sets have these tiny border stamps which are only about two to three inches long…I  have usually ignored those stamps….till now…
I was trying out a couple of these stamps to create a full border using bright inks and they didn’t line up correctly(the reason why I didn’t use them much to begin with)…but a small section look alright and I decided to die cut that part to use in a card using the stitched rectangle die…the panel looked great and I decided to make it the main element of today’s card…
The card base is plain white and the top layer is plain blue which has been die cut using the largest of the stitched rectangle border die and then placed the border stamped panel on it….
I then die cut the word ‘happy’ using red glitter cardstock and placed it on the panel at an angle and also stamped the word birthday on a small piece of white cardstock and placed it on the die cut…
Have a lovely & blessed day ahead….Happy crafting…!!

Watercolour Stamping Birthday Card

I love watching tutorials for craft/stamping techniques…and I get very excited when sometimes(just sometimes)my results are pretty close to the tutorial I was following to create my project…I try my very best not to ‘copy’ something as is….where’s the fun in that….
The card that I’m sharing today has been made by following a tutorial by Dawn on the Wplus9 Blog called Watercolor Stamping With Hand Doodling…Now I did skip the doodling part as I’m not very good at drawing of any sort….luckily I had the outline stamp for the stamp set I used and I didn’t have to doodle.. 🙂
I have created this card using the Stampin Up Balloon Celebration Stamp set as well as the coordinating punch to create masks easily…
In short, the technique is about using a solid stamp and dabbing a bit of distress ink on it and very little water to spread it around and then quickly stamping it onto the watercolor cardstock…Dawn used a black pen to doodle around and finish the images while I simply used stamps….
For the sentiment,I die cut the ‘Happy’ word from black glitter cardstock and created a banner to stamp the word ‘Birthday’ on it….and the card was ready….
Hope you liked this card….thanks for stopping by today…

One Layer Cards

Today I’m sharing two cards with you….both are single layered ones and I’ve followed the tutorials printed in the latest issue I received of the Australian Cardmaking Stamping & Papercraft Magazine Vol. 22 No. 9

The first one is on Pg 56 by Cindi Gilfillian…..and she has taught how to mask a larger area on a card front and stamp on rest of the card….

I have used a plain white card base and used a shaped mask to cover one section of the card and then used a lot of large and small flower stamps and bright inks to cover the whole card….

Once the stamping was complete,I simply lifted the mask and stamped the large sentiment with bright red ink…I have also used clear sequins to decorate this card…

Now the second card I tried from this magazine is on Pg 44 by Linda Langes called Hedgehog Balloon….the idea of these cards is to have a plain card front with a bright and colourful scene inside…
I started with a plain white card base and die cut a balloon on the front and stamped a string and adhered the stamped, coloured in and fussy-cut image of a little boy….this die cut section would see through to the inside of the card…
On the inside,I stamped the balloon images with Versamark ink and heat embossed with clear embossing powder….I then covered the whole section with Mustard Seed distress ink…then to make it more colourful,I stamped flowers in various colours…
I die cut the word ‘happy’ from blue foil cardstock and stamped the word ‘birthday’ on red cardstock and placed it on the inside of the card and the card was ready….
I had a lot of fun making these cards and I hope you liked both of them…
Thanks for stopping by…

Indian Themed Paisley & Watercolour Card

This paisley stamp is among the first few I bought when I was starting out…..and I love it and use it a lot….but I don’t think I have ever made a bright and colourful card like this one before using this stamp…reminds me of the hand printed scarves I had seen in Rajasthan,India…
The card base is plain bright blue and the top layer is made from Ranger watercolor paper….I first stamped the images randomly using Versamark ink and then heat embossed them using black embossing powder…once that was done,I coloured them all in with Peerless watercolors…
Next,I die cut the word ‘Happy’ from blue and gold glitter cardstock and layered them before placing on the card….the word ‘Birthday’ is also die cut from the same gold cardstock but instead of using the die cut I have used the negative and placed a strip of blue cardstock underneath..I have used sequins is various colours to decorate the card…
Hope you like this card as much as I do…

Happy Happy Happy Birthday To You Card

I’m sure it happens with most crafters….you think of an idea and get very excited about it….but when you are half way through, things happen and you don’t get the result you had envisioned….at this moment you make a decision either to scrap or salvage….and considering how very costly craft supplies are(in Australia at least),I’m sure most crafters in this situation try their very best to salvage the project….
So here’s how this card went…..I started with a red card base and a white top layer….on the top layer I stamped a few different patterned circle images with versamark ink and heat embossed them using black embossing powder….I noticed that some circles did not emboss properly but it wasn’t a big deal so I carried on and used watercolours to colour in the all the circles….the result wasn’t that great…maybe I should’ve used a single colour…anyways,I decided to carry on and not scrap it…
So I die cut a Vellum sheet using stitched rectangle die same size as the top layer and adhere it using brads on all four corners….I then die cut the happy word 3 times using red glitter cardstock and adhere them to the vellum…then I cut a silver banner and stamped the words ‘Birthday to you!’ on it and adhered it below the happy words…Finally I added a few silver star sequins and my card was complete….
What do you think about this card??Do you like how it turned out in the end??Let me know…

LEAP DAY SPECIAL BLOG POST – No Fuss Colouring Technique Cards

It’s the 29th of February and I’m going to celebrate this day which comes only once in four years….I don’t know if my blog will still be running four years from now….so I’ve decided not to number my post for today….not only that,I’m sharing a special technique that I’ve learn’t from the latest issue of Australian Cardmaking,Stamping and Papercraft magazine (Vol. 22 No.8)..

The no fuss colouring technique tutorial was by Marion Vagg and her card was so pretty….She has used the back of cling stamps to stamp with coloured ink first and then the right side with black ink…..now the thing we have to be really careful about is the fact that the stamp has to be a symmetrical one or else it won’t work…
I got such good results from this technique that I went ahead and made two cards….The first one is a Hello card in which I have used my marigold stamp and in the second card I have used balloon stamps to make a Birthday card….
It’s a great technique to teach kids as well….
Hope you liked my cards….

I really like creating backgrounds for my cards…I use watercolours, inks, embossing folders or stamps….the best part is that it makes the card unique….
The card I’m sharing today has a plain lavender card base and a white top layer….to create the patterned background for this card I have used a stamp set called Layer Away Dots Frames by Fiskars….the set has concentric circles and squares…for this card I just used the circles and stamped them randomly on the white top layer with various colours…
I die cut the word ‘Happy’ from purple foil cardstock and adhered it to the card….then stamped the word ‘birthday’ on a lavender strip of paper and placed it partially on the word ‘Happy’…I have also used  a few lavender rhinestones  as embellishments…
Hope you liked this card…What do you think of the dotted circles background???

Post#152 Black & Colourful Birthday Card

Black cardstock has always been a bit tricky for me to make cards from….something or the other usually goes wrong…especially while stamping….So this time I managed to make a black card with no mistakes….mainly because I did not use stamps on it… 🙂 🙂
The card base and top layer has been rounded on two corners only….and on the top layer I have added strips of brightly coloured paper made by using Peerless watercolors…
The sentiment has been die cut from green glitter cardstock and adhered to the card…..I have added sequins in various sizes all over the card as well…
Even though it’s a black card,I feel it looks really bright and colourful…Hope you like it as much as I do…
