Sympathy cards are not for show or decoration, but to convey condolences to the recipient…to send a small heartfelt message at the time when someone has lost a loved one…so I feel these cards do not require to be overly decorated or intricate…
I recently saw a few lovely sympathy cards on Pinterest.…and even though I find them extremely hard to make,I thought I should try at least one….
I started with a plain black card base….For the top layer I used a printed cardstock and stamped and clear heat embossed the image in the center….I then covered the whole top layer with tea dye distress ink….I think it’s called the resist technique…
I added a few thin strips of paper at the top and bottom of the prepared top layer and stamped the message near the bottom before adhering it to the card….I have used a few black adhesive pearls as the only embellishments on this card…
Hope you liked this card….Please let me know what you think…..

Post#192 – Simple Thank You Card

Today I’m sharing a simple card made by using an embossing folder and white ink on Vellum paper….and using just two shades of blue and plain white….
The card base is 5×5 inches light blue textured cardstock….the first is dark blue and the next layer is white embossed cardstock…
Then I used white StazOn ink to stamp on vellum paper using a stamp from EK Success Punch Pairings set called Floral Doodle….I adhered the stamped and slightly coloured in image onto a dark blue base with the help of small white brads and then attached it to the card…
This card didn’t take too long to make and still looks pretty nice and neat….
Hope you liked it…

Post#174 – Distress Inks,Stencils+Water Background Cards

I have followed a tutorial by Jennifer McGuire to create backgrounds for all these cards….I got quite excited by such a good result and went ahead and made a couple more cards using this technique…
Here is the link for the tutorial – Easy Distress Ink Backgrounds by Jennifer McGuire
It’s an excellent video so there is no need for me to write down much details….
I did however mix a bit of twinkling H2O watercolour in my water spritzer for a shiny look as I do not have any other kind of pre-bottled shimmer spritzer etc….
The cards are only lightly decorated as the background is the hero in all these cards….
Hope you liked these cards…
Do you have a favourite??Let me know…

Post#170 – Rainbow Hearts on Kraft Card

Today I’m sharing a simple card with a very sweet message….
The card base and top layer are made from Kraft cardstock…I have rounded only two sides of the card and top layer…on one side of the top layer I have attached a wide strip of Vellum Paper and another in red glitter cardstock above it…..on both of these I have used a heart border punch….
The sentiment has been stamped at the top right of the card using white pigment ink….and I punched two different sizes of hearts from coloured paper(prepared using peerless watercolors)….each heart has a tiny red rhinestone on it as well…
I hope you liked this card as much as I do…

I find it quite difficult with some cards to click pictures that show all the elements of the card clearly….I have clicked countless pictures of this card and constantly adjusted my camera and light but one or the other element was always out of focus…and it’s only when you look closely, you will see a silver string wrapped around the heart….
The card base is plain white with a silver layer and a white top layer which has been embossed using Love Spun embossing folder….I have then placed a large glitter die cut heart on it which has a silver string wrapped around it….and then  I added small punched out elements on it as well as a ‘Happy Anniversary’ banner…
Hope you liked this card…

Today I’m sharing a very colourful Champagne bottle gift tag…Champagne is still one of the best congratulatory gift that you can give someone and it suits most celebratory occasions as well…..

The base of the tag is plain green and has been scored at 2″ and I have used a 1&1/2” circle die to create a hole that slides over the bottle’s neck….the other end of the tag has been given a crest shape using the WRMK banner punch board…

The top layer is a panel of beautiful and bright printed glitter cardstock…..and the sentiment is stamped on a cut out from the same cardstock pack….and layered with a green and a gold cardstock layer…there are a couple of small punched gold flower embellishments…and three printed banners as well….

Hope you liked it…

Today I’m sharing a card with no layers at all….sometimes adding layers complicates a simple beautiful design and doesn’t necessarily add much…
For this card I started by stamping a large swirly image using a brown pigment ink and then added clear embossing powder to heat emboss it….this would now resist the distress inks I used for the background…I started with a lighter shade of yellow and added the darker shade on the edges of the card…
I stamped the sentiment near the base of the card and added a few tiny rhinestones as well…
Hope you liked this card…

Post#69 Gift Tag with Stamped Acetate Layer

I am really enjoying using acetate in my projects these days….here is another one with an acetate layer…
I die cut an olive green tag and made a dotted border all around the tag with a white gel pen….then I die cut the same tag from the acetate sheet….I placed this on top of the green base tag….I also stamped the girl and boy holding balloons on acetate tag with white ink…
The ribbon holds both the tags together nicely so there was no need for any adhesives…
Hope you liked it….

I haven’t made many encouragement cards, and I wanted to try one where the sentiment is the focal point and the stamping or embellishments do not overshadow it…
I chose a lime green card base and a plain white top layer….and on the white paper I stamped a leaf stamp with electric lime dye ink…then stamped again on top of the stamped image with Twinkling h2o watercolours…this was my first try with these watercolours…they did not stick on the stamp very well but once that colour was transferred onto the paper they looked really nice and shiny while giving the overall stamped image a great effect…
I then stamped the sentiment near the base of the card with Memento Ink called Rhubarb Stalk…
Hope you liked this card…

Today I’m sharing a simple notepad cover with you….these notepads are usually sold three or four in a pack in most stores that sell stationery and even dollar stores and are very handy for making those all important ‘lists’…..I am a ‘to do list-maker’ myself…..so I have quite a few notepads for my own use…what I don’t like is that they look very ordinary and anyone can see what you have been writing on them…so it is a good idea to put on a cover and make them look beautiful and private at the same time…
Sam Donald on Pootles.co.uk  has a tutorial on how to measure and cover any notebook and its a great tutorial to understand the basics….but now after making quite a few notepad covers,I don’t do too many calculations etc….I just measure the length and width of the notepad before starting out…
The length of the paper has to be a good few inches longer than the notepad…then I just pinch the sides and crease them to accommodate the thickness/height of the pad…the leftover flap of paper at the back has to be glued to the back cardboard of the notepad…
I have used a Kraft cardstock for the base and a printed Kraft cardstock for the top layer….and to decorate I’ve simply cut a square peice of plain kraft cardstock and rounded the corners…layered another square and stamped that with black ink….then added a banner with ‘Just a note…’ stamped on it….
Even if you are not a crafter, you can easily try covering notepads with whatever paper and/or decorations you have…
Hope you liked my notepad…

This time when I wanted to use a Polaroid frame die cut on a card,I thought to make things easy for myself and do the layout like a scrapbook page….
The card is a square white and the top layer had been created using a stencil and distress inks….then a couple of die cut hearts were added and then the Polaroid frame…the word xoxo was cut out of the frame and another one in red added in its place…and lastly the sentiment was placed at the top which is in the shape of an arrow…
I have again used vellum paper to stamp the Fizzy Moon stamp and coloured it in and then added to the back of the picture frame…
Hope you like it.

From time to time I keep trying out various sizes and shapes of card…..Today its a circle shaped card….
And for the colourful background of this card I tried something for the very first time…I used the sunburst technique on a circle…I have tried that on rectangular and square card layouts before but never on a circle…quite happy about this…
On the purple circular base I added a die cut scalloped circle in off white as the first layer and placed the colourful circle on top of that….then added a punched out flower in orange and in the middle I added the sentiment punched out by a circle punch ….The white stitch effect around the card  was made using a gel pen…
Hope you liked it.

I see a lot of cards these days with tags on them…..and I do think its a great idea…and it looks good too…
Earlier I used to add as much as possible on to one card..thinking it would make it look prettier…only it turned out too busy for the eye to focus on anything….slowly I’m learning to tone things down and maintain a focus point in my cards…
It is a learning process for me…sometimes I get things right and sometimes I learn what not to do…
Here I’ve used a simple kraft cardstock for the card base and added a tag on which I used watercolours and then added a stamped and coloured in image…also added a few transparent sequins..
Hope you liked this simple card.

Whenever I think of kids,I think of bright colours….so here’s a tag I made which would be just perfect on a present for a kid….or even someone vibrant and young at heart…
Tags don’t take long to make…and this one didn’t either….as soon as I had the colours for the banners chosen,it came together pretty quickly…
I used 2 base layers for the tag and embossed the top white layer with a chevron embossing folder….then attached the 5 banner strips….and then the gold and yellow butterflies….added a tiny stamped and punched sentiment near the bottom ..finally put on the ribbons and tadaaaa….the tag was ready…
Hope you liked the tag.
